AWARD CEREMONY ETIQUETTE
I am attending an award ceremony tonight, and after the Aria's which were on last Sunday I can't stop thinking about how one must behave at such an event. Here are some pointers I came up with for all four parties, the rewarded (those who receive awards), the overlooked (those who miss out), the standby (those who are there simply to be in the mist of rewardness) and the friend (those who are there to support the rewarded or the overlooked.
Pointers for THE REWARDED
1. Appreciate that not everyone got awards
2. Don't brag un-necessarily
3. Acknowledge that you did something right
4. Only make a thankyou speech if invited to
5. If making a thankyou speech make it short & to the point
6. Be a good sport by not pushing the overlooked down
Pointers for THE OVERLOOKED
1. Appreciate that not everyone gets awards
2. Don't be a bad sport by pushing the rewarded down
3. Acknowledge that you shouldn't do things simply for rewards
4. Remember there is always next time, even if its not for the same thing
5. When awards are received by others applaud with the audience
6. Do not hold a grudge against those who received the award you expected
Pointers for THE STANDBY
1. When awards are received by others applaud with the audience
2. remain quiet unless invited to speech
3. don't be a bad sport by pushing the overlooked down
4. don't be a bad sport by pushing the rewarded down
5. don't drink too much, even if you are bored
6. stay seated. do not go to the toilet or play with phone
Pointers for THE FRIEND
If your friend received award...
1. Be happy for your friend and show them so.
2. Applaud with audience (without whistling)

If your friend was overlooked...
1. Sympathize with your friend. show them you care
2. stay seated. do not go to toilet or play with phone
3. make sure your friend doesn't drink sorrows away or behave badly.
