Good morning my sweetharts,
I know how much you LOVE the links I have been preparing for you each week in this weekly rambles but I've decided to make a change to the weekly post; instead of link I will write briefly on something I've been thinking about, not necessarily on what I've been doing but it could be something I have learnt about at university or enjoy. The first new improved 'Weekly Ramble" will be of course on models. What else?
Models have been part of society for centuries. They were here before photography or film, before radio or cars. These days, the 21st century in particular models are used to advertise both products and programs (such as PETA'S "Fur? I'd rather go naked" campaign). Models are often criticised for their behaviour outside the workplace. Kate Moss parties it up and has been photographed used several illegal substances and she's a fashion favourite among young women.
The problem that is 'arising' today, according to parents and several media outlets, is that these models are role models for young girls and they are not doing a very good job. Anorexia has been found in girls in Australia as young as five years old but is model behaviour to blame? Teenager substance abuse is on the rise but is model behaviour to blame? I think not. Models are models not role models and honestly what five year old picks up the latest gossip magazine to find Moss' party antics? Girls and their parents should know better than to blame these professionals for their problems.
LOVE KATE MOSS as a model.
She's professional.
Don't care about after hours.

Campus Collection
So someone asked me what I wear to university and it's difficult to say. I wear what I usually wear. My getting ready for uni in the morning consists of me choosing an outfit, usually one I haven't worn before and throwing it on. If I had to have a favourite outfit that I've worn to uni it would have to be something like a pencil skirt and blouse or my trenchcoat. My favourite outfit I've seen someone wear included a faux fur vest and knee high boots. I am so trying that soon.

Weekly Rambles 038: 24/04/09
Weekly rambles has quite transformed into a weekly ramble. haha. The links has decreased quite a bit and now I'm just going to type what I want to type, that's about it.
In the way of links however over the past few days I've stumbled apon some Australian fashion websites, which arent blogs but they aren't designers sites either. These home brewed fashion websites include Style File, Australian Fashion Council and Street Fashion Australia.
University wise I've noticed that I have been very organised. I havent written anything last minute which I'm quite proud of. Honestly university students an all-nighter does not make an assignment, persistent, effort and time-management do. We are all busy but try a little harder, you will be suprised at what you can accomplish.
Hoping everyone in Australia had a good study break, its been quite the experience. Parties, study, fashion. Its all oh so much fun. haha. The other day in particular I say a girl on the train dressed ever so stylishly. She had corporate pants, a gorgeous pale pink blouse and oversized sunglasses. She took the sunglasses off and I was horried at the transformation... Hangover much. haha. It just shows how much a pair of good sunnies can help.
Have a good one,
Clairzy

Dance, Dance, Dance
Taking some inspiration from 'So you think you can dance', magazines everywhere are falling over their heels for 'dance'. It's a crazy fad that just got bigger, so why not invest in it? Why not wear a pair of ballet flats and take a sportsbag to uni? You'll be the coolest kid in school and they'll all think 'oh... isn't she A-MA-ZING.' Haha, so jump on the bandwagon and have some fun with this craze.

weekly inspiration: 22/04/09
So at the moment I've been really inspired by relationships and how our relationships shape us. Not just those relationships with a partner but those with your friends and family. The majority of these photos are of couples but that's because there were so many photos on polyvore of them. Here's a question for this week: Who's relationship do you cherish? Who would you not want to live without? Who are your 'soulmates'?

Unsure? Go Opaque
My stockings are my everything. When I pull them on I feel so chic and snug. They are so polished and will go with almost everything. Best in black though don't steer away from nude, they are not meant to be worn in fluro or with patterns. Leave those to your undies.

Hey all,
Not much in the way of a weekly rambles. I've got to dash off to 'Stations of the Cross' for Good Friday, but I have managed to get two videos from the Chicago film starring Catherine Zeta Jones. Enjoy them and have a great Easter holiday. Spend with family and friends, food and fun, and don't forget that this special holiday is for new life, happiness and new beginnings.

Fake It
Okay, right now I'll say I'm totally against wearing fur & leather however I do own a faux leather jacket, but it is a FAKE. I don't condone wearing fur, unless the wearer went through the devastastion of making the fur coat. I think there are so many things we do because we haven't been in the production of such things. Many eat meat religiously but how many of those people kill to eat? The stress is taken out of production because it's already be cleaned up and prepared. The beef is already minced and ready for spaghetti & the chicken has been cleaned and bagged ready for butter chicken.
How many designers killed the animal who used to wear the fur they used for their collections? Name one and I'll shut up. Hard, isn't it? Hope I gave you a bit to think about. GO FAKE! I'm not trying to make everyone vegetarians, it's difficult for most, heck I'm not even a full vegetarian. I simply don't eat red meat. What are you willing to do?

Jean Scene
I was recently asked what I thought of the so-called "METRO CRISIS" (apparently its straight men dressing like gay men - what a generalisation). I don't see a METRO CRISIS anywhere, I simply see men wearing what they should, jeans & button shirts. There's no crisis going on, it's not like there was going and dying their hair lime green and wearing fluro pink flip flops with orange shorts (Fashion Faux Pas for anyone). I like seeing men dress up, but if your partner or friend does so make sure they don't wear the same thing all the time! It's insane! I have someone in one of my university lecture who wears the same glouse (guy's blouse), pants, shoes & wayfarers every lecture! He looked good the first week but every week he wears the same thing you feel more and more sorry for him. This is why women are on the fashion frontier, we shop for new things, hence why we have more than one outfit. So fashion is good to get your guy into just make sure he has more than one outfit.

Colonial Fashion
History is one of the most amazing subjects. It's so broad yet there are so many concise disciplines to choose from. Many people would know about Marie Antoinette and the cake as well as Henry VIII & his six wives. Almost every history student has written about the Spartans or Mark Antony's love for Cleopatra; yet how much do you really know? Ha. I've gotten you there.
Every single one of these is another countrys history. What about our history? What about Australia? It may be a strong country but so much has happened already. Think about the discovery, the convicts, the aboriginal vs anglo-saxon battles, the fight for women rights. All this in just over two hundred years.
Well someone has started to taken notice. The world over is now bowing to colonial period fashion. Corsets and bonnets are gracing the catwalks in France & Mulan. Australia may just be the inspiration for the greatest collections of our time and students fall asleep in history. Will we ever learn?

weekly rambles #035: 03/04/09
Hey Everyone,
A small weekly rambles, a jumble of videos even. Enjoy.
At university last week one of the girls did her presentation and showed a video about public speaking. The tune is so catching it's still in my head. Here it is.
Yes, Audrey Hepburn videos again. She is amazing. So charismatic, so fabulous, such a legend. In the first video she reads from Anne Frank's diary, a book I have read myself & enjoyed. In the second video is of her talking about Unicef, an organisation she worked with until her death. The third and final video is of her last full interview, which is quite sad considering. You would have noticed all three of these are from her later life.
