Weekly Rambles #044: 05/06/09

So this is what winter feels like. The sun is shining, the breeze is ever present, coffee is the only thing to get me out of bed. Life is pretty amazing. I've been enjoying the beginning of winter so much that I've neglected my blog. I'm on holidays, as of last Friday, and yet I have had no time or paitence to prepare an article.

How have I spending the past week you may be wondering. Well, I started Friday off with a trip to Southbank and the CBD with one of my friends. We got coffee from a little cafe in Southbank and walked across the bridge to the Queen st Mall for a spot of shopping. There I purchased two pairs of knit stockings from Forever New which I have already embraced with coats and dresses. My Friday night consisted of dinner at Sizzlers with some friends from my old highschool and handing in a friend's university assignment.

As per usual I spent Saturday and Sunday selling people furniture and homewares. Quite exciting, dont you believe?

How did I welcome in the winter?

Monday morning was spent with my head glued to my television set, as I watched Season One of Gossip Girl for the third time in a month. What can I say? Chuck Bass gets my heart racing. That evening I headed back to Southbank for dinner and laughs with some friends from university. We ate at the hotspot AMICI'S and found an abandoned area to sit near the pools.

For the duration of Tuesday morning I had my nose in my book War Crimes & Terror. My dog has certainly been very pleased with my presence around the house this past week. I also paid a visit to my old highschool to borrow some of my old assignments off my old history teacher to photocopy for my file at home. I came across three old teachers who all asked me how I was going, one of which I don't recall ever having taught me.

Wednesday was brought in with breakfast at Tiffanys, no not quite. Starbucks coffee and hashbrowns anyone? This was followed by a walk around the shops, with myself dragging my friend to all the bookstores on Queen St and at our local Westfield. I didn't buy anything but have my eye on a couple. The evening was spent celebrating State of Origin and mourning our loss. I have bruises on my arms from when I fell over. ouch!

Yesterday was spent watching The Duchess and reading my new book A short History of the 20th Century. I went for a walk to my work and on the way, as I had time to kill, sat at a coffee shop with a tall caramel latte and read my book. Work was very quiet last night and consisted of me unpacking new stock and selling furniture to my own mother.

This morning as I look back over the past week I wonder what the week ahead has to offer. I already have a breakfast planned, my shifts from work and a morning tea with old friends. Today I'm going to indulge in visiting a coffee shop with my book again and quite possibly buy some more knitted stockings.

Much a ramble this post has been.
Alas, the week has been very much filled.

Until the next,
♥ Clairzy

Weekly Rambles #042: 22/05/09

I've been thinking about moving away quite often lately. My university is a 'national' university so there are campuses scattered all over the country. All of them offer the same courses and you can exchange for a semester or more with no hassle. I thought about moving to Melbourne next year for a time but now I've got my heart set on Sydney. I was looking at subjects and units I can do in my course at the different campuses and one of Sydney's campuses has units in Roman history and the expansion of the united states. By the looks of it I shall be saying goodbye to Brisbane for a semester next year.

I'm still not sure about my accomodation; I have family living near the campus so I may stay with them but if that doesn't work out student accomodation is offered through the campus with not much expense. The other option is a new scholarship, with my grades at the present moment I can apply for one to pay for my accomodation and living expenses while I'm down there. As I tell everyone often though, dont count your chicken before they hatch, so I'll see what happens and hopefully a new adventure will be awaiting me soon.

Weekly Rambles #041: 15/05/09

So I was talking to one of my close friends the other day who is friends with someone I had a falling out with recently. The wounds have healed and I'm not angry but I'm not happy about the falling out either. My close friend got me thinking about forgiveness. Would I say yes to a sorry? I dont know. It could be on the cards but I'm not going to initiate it. Have a fabulous day. A little weekly ramble but a ramble all the same.

Weekly Rambles #40: 08/05/09

Good morning all,
I've been asking myself and my friends recently 'why do relationships have to be so complicated?' Is there a reason behind breakups, cheating, bitching? Are we the culprits or is it fate for things to go upside down? Even when you have friends or that special someone it's still complicated. You have to organise when to meet up around each other's work, study, other friends. You spend all your savings on phone credit and you only ever see your friends once a week. So why so complicated?

Why can't be just skip all the nonsense and end up with a clean slate with no complications. For instance one of my friends has just turned 18, she's super excited. She went out clubbing for her 18th birthday but only a week or so later she had to get her wisdom teeth out; this caused her to have to stay in for a week or so without any parties, clubbing or drinks with friends. The usual things you do when you turn 18. It's very complicated, she's probably getting invites out here and there but can't go and it's not really her fault at all. It her teeth! But because they are her teeth is she munipulated her own wants so she cant go out, subconciously? I don't think so but that could be a possibility.

One of my other friends was seeing someone kind of special for a few weeks. They met up every so often, msn-ed like crazy and she was seriously falling in lust. However, she was 17 and he was turning 18. For his 18th and went off and slept with someone else... interesting? Because she wasnt there he went off and forgot about her, but then again no one can no if he was trying to ruin the relationship or if he was simply drunk. Needless to say its over between them.

So why do we let small minor things, like wisdom teeth, and big things, like sexual antics, get in the way of a clean slate? Why are they more important than our friends? Let's just say that life is what happens when you're planning. Everything happens for a reason. The wisdom teeth had to come out and people have to deal with that and well he was going to cheat eventually lucky it happened at the start of the relationship. As for those that simply ditch there friends because they think they're beneath them go dig a hole and crawl into it. haha.

Haha, a little bit to grasp on a friday morning? That's what I'm here for. What do you think on this issue? Drop us an email on clairzy91@hotmail.com

Such a random.. thanks to my examples. I love you girls!

Weekly Rambles #039: 01/05/09

kate moss Pictures, Images and Photos

Good morning my sweetharts,
I know how much you LOVE the links I have been preparing for you each week in this weekly rambles but I've decided to make a change to the weekly post; instead of link I will write briefly on something I've been thinking about, not necessarily on what I've been doing but it could be something I have learnt about at university or enjoy. The first new improved 'Weekly Ramble" will be of course on models. What else?

Models have been part of society for centuries. They were here before photography or film, before radio or cars. These days, the 21st century in particular models are used to advertise both products and programs (such as PETA'S "Fur? I'd rather go naked" campaign). Models are often criticised for their behaviour outside the workplace. Kate Moss parties it up and has been photographed used several illegal substances and she's a fashion favourite among young women.

The problem that is 'arising' today, according to parents and several media outlets, is that these models are role models for young girls and they are not doing a very good job. Anorexia has been found in girls in Australia as young as five years old but is model behaviour to blame? Teenager substance abuse is on the rise but is model behaviour to blame? I think not. Models are models not role models and honestly what five year old picks up the latest gossip magazine to find Moss' party antics? Girls and their parents should know better than to blame these professionals for their problems.

LOVE KATE MOSS as a model.
She's professional.
Don't care about after hours.

Weekly Rambles 038: 24/04/09

Weekly rambles has quite transformed into a weekly ramble. haha. The links has decreased quite a bit and now I'm just going to type what I want to type, that's about it.

In the way of links however over the past few days I've stumbled apon some Australian fashion websites, which arent blogs but they aren't designers sites either. These home brewed fashion websites include Style File, Australian Fashion Council and Street Fashion Australia.

University wise I've noticed that I have been very organised. I havent written anything last minute which I'm quite proud of. Honestly university students an all-nighter does not make an assignment, persistent, effort and time-management do. We are all busy but try a little harder, you will be suprised at what you can accomplish.

Hoping everyone in Australia had a good study break, its been quite the experience. Parties, study, fashion. Its all oh so much fun. haha. The other day in particular I say a girl on the train dressed ever so stylishly. She had corporate pants, a gorgeous pale pink blouse and oversized sunglasses. She took the sunglasses off and I was horried at the transformation... Hangover much. haha. It just shows how much a pair of good sunnies can help.

Have a good one,
Clairzy

Hey all,

Not much in the way of a weekly rambles. I've got to dash off to 'Stations of the Cross' for Good Friday, but I have managed to get two videos from the Chicago film starring Catherine Zeta Jones. Enjoy them and have a great Easter holiday. Spend with family and friends, food and fun, and don't forget that this special holiday is for new life, happiness and new beginnings.

weekly rambles #035: 03/04/09

Hey Everyone,
A small weekly rambles, a jumble of videos even. Enjoy.

At university last week one of the girls did her presentation and showed a video about public speaking. The tune is so catching it's still in my head. Here it is.

Yes, Audrey Hepburn videos again. She is amazing. So charismatic, so fabulous, such a legend. In the first video she reads from Anne Frank's diary, a book I have read myself & enjoyed. In the second video is of her talking about Unicef, an organisation she worked with until her death. The third and final video is of her last full interview, which is quite sad considering. You would have noticed all three of these are from her later life.

Weekly Rambles #034: 27/03/09

Good morning sweetharts,
sorry the rambling has been so full of videos. I find they are so interesting. haha. Everything is on YouTube these days. Enjoy.

Ever thought of having a cupcake bouquet? haha. Here's a video showing you how to make one. It's something I hadn't thought of before. "Sounds complicated but it's really not." Yeah right.
If anyone wants to make me one feel free.

You remember the Gummy Bear song? It's quite good actually. haha.

He has some friends as well which I find amusing.
The bunny has to be my favourite.

Okay unless you're new to the site you'd know how much I love Britney. Here's her new clip for the fabulous single "If you seek Amy".

Have a great day

How fabulous does Britney look in this photo?

I believe I've just come across the next 'It' bloggest! Her name is Megan and she's the bloggest of Student Charade. Visit her blog everyone, we should support such a talent.

Megan says, "In creating Charade I’ve made the decision that a thriving, remarkable and opulent lifestyle is always within reach, on any budget; it just takes a little know-how. Stick around for regular musings from a girl who’s masquerading her way through a budget lifestyle."

Need to look fab without the pricetag? I've just found a new blog called The Budget Babe. It's full of handy hints and great inexpensive buys to keep you looking fabulous.

This week I've also some videos dedicated to the late great Audrey Hepburn.

Have a great day everyone.

Weekly rambles #032: 13/03/09

I've just finished reading "Tess of the D'urbervilles" by Thomas Hardy. It is so sad, so brilliant, so captivating. Hardy is a great writer and his legacy will live on in his works. Hardy believed that nothing should go without being said and so wrote about death, childbirth & sex opening. Here's a montage of the two main characters from one of the mini series versions.

I hope Britney Spears comes to Australia. There's rumours she may be later this year. I would so go. I've wanted to go to a Britney concert since I was seven. haha. Here's what she's been up to anyway. I'm not going to post a video someone took on their phone or camera at the show, I think if you want to support Britney actually buy the CDs instead of using things like limewire and actually go to the show instead of watching youtube videos of it. I will show however this promo video made by Candies, the company that is presenting Brits.

French is hilarious in this Harry Potter spoof. Basil even makes an appearance.

Have a fabulous day!

Weekly Rambles #031: 06/03/09

Happy Friday everyone,
Here are some videos for you this lovely morning.

Let us begin with Neighbours. Libby Kennedy seemed to chance faces for a couple of weeks last year. Why was that? Perhaps these two videos can answer your questions.

haha this is hilarious. I love her. Jodhi is fabulous and what's best she speaks her mind. Her supporters are my favourites though. They get so into it.

more videos on her youtube site. links from each of these videos.

weekly rambles #030: 27/02/09

I've been surfing YouTube. I love watching old shows and new ones. I love watching videoclips and so I've got a bunch of videos for you. With a theme of course... "bitches" haha.

My favourite bitch of all time is of course Izzy Hoyland off Neighbours. She may have left more than two years ago but she'll always be the best thing that happened to Ramsay Street, or the worst, whichever way you see it.

I find it interesting that Elle & Paul are the only two in this flick that are still on the show. Isn't Izzy awesome?

...and again Toadie is the only way still on the show and the bikini show does not exist anymore.

In this scene Boyd mentioned the whole "Karl" thing. Karl left his wife for Izzy and after this scene she cheats on him with many other suitors. Interesting way of making friends.

Of course she left like many other characters do so that her puppet master Natalie Bassingthwaighte could fulfill her dreams as a singer.

Then there was Holly Valance's character Flick in Neighbours. She came years before Izzy but was just a fisty.

Again Steph is the only one still present in the series today.

Pretty well done if you ask me.

Haha. This is hilarious. Imaginary Bitches... haha.

Weekly Rambles #026: 30/01/09

Happy friday everybody,

Hope you're all having a fantabulous day. Today I'm having a friend over for lunch and I don't know where the day will go on from there. It's great having time to just relax and catch up with friends. I love long lunches. It's the perfect mix, good food, good friends and good stories. Of course when seeing friends you must always make the effort to look tidy, you don't want to sport a "i just got out of bed" overload. This week has been interesting. It's been full of catchups, knee high boots, a fabulous photo shoot and a job interview.

The world wide web's urban dictionary is unlike any other dictionary in the retrospect that the definitions can be added by anyone, much like wikipedia encyclopedia. Try searching things like your name, where you like, etc. It's fun and you can always add your own definition if you wish.

I'm so excited for this season's premiere of Desperate Housewives which premieres on channel seven next monday at 8:30pm. Yay!
