WEEKLY TOP 5: 2/06/08

This week we have five items which all contribute to the stylish winter fashion this season. They first item, the skinny leg jeans, are essential to any winter wardrobe and can be worn with almost anything. You can find a decent pair at any good retail residence.

They Second Item is the Ruffled Party dress, a piece which can be worn with jeans, stockings, tights, or by itself. It adds height and hugs you in all the right places. Try one from Dotti or Ice Design.

The Third Item, is the Fedora hat, a classic piece that adds a touch of class to any outfit. Try one from dotti, equip or jay jays for understated style.

Embellished rings are the Next Big thing and they are everywhere at the moment. Try one on each hand, you can get them from Michael Hills Jewelers, Diva and all good jewelry outlets.

The last item is of strong significance. The simple flats are important for any wardrobe and can go with everything. Try a pair from Temt, Dotti or Portmans for classic glamour.

FOUR DAYS TO GO!

Hey Sweetharts,
So because it's only four days until history is made, [Yes, im talking about the "SEX AND THE CITY" movie coming out on Thursday.] I thought we could go over a few outrageous outfits that were showcased through the series. They may get it soooooo right sometimes but other times they get it sooooooooo wrong.

Are they in the jungle or something? JUNGLE FEVER is not the best way to make a fashion statement, especially with the frizzy hair and band of loyal jungle followers. If you ever wear jungle prints, try a suble pair of heels or a scarf. Please do not go head to toe.

Come on, the printed coats. They blow them up like a widescreen billboard. Come on this is one fashion mistake worth regretting. Look at SJP's cool calm choice. Didn't you think that was the better option?

Okay, are these swimsuits or playsuits, because at the moment i'm finding it hard to work out what they are supposed to be. They are drinking martinis and are certainly older than 10 or 12, so they should not be dressing like viking children. Do they like to yodel?

What have you learnt from their mistakes?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HEIDI

Would you believe it? Heidi Klum is 35 today!!!!

"My greatest hobby is my family and spending quality time with them. Also extremely important to me is keeping up with my friends - mostly by phone or email. I always love to know what's going on with them. I also love dancing. I've studied ballet and jazz since I was a young girl. Whenever I can manage it, I still visit a studio in New York in order to get in some jazz dance lessons. I also like traveling, skiing and strolling flea markets for some great finds. Another hobby of mine is painting, especially large-size canvases." Heidi Klum

I think, by the sound of that, Heidi will be spending her free time today on the phone to friends and family, dancing, painting or skiing with her husband and kids.

MY TOP 3 FASHION ICONS OF THE '70S

Deborah Harry
Debbie was a bit of a punk princess in her day. A little similar to P!nk but with less tatts.

Cheryl Tiegs
Simplicity was what she was about. She used to wear lots of highwaists and bright colours. very retro.

Farrah Fawcett
Now you have the girl who made boho cool. She wore simplilar things to nicole ritches and the Olsen Twins, and had the coolest hairdo in the biz.

Who do you think deserves the crown. Answer my poll on the right.

Get Carried Away

"It's everything you wanted it to be and then some."

- Oprah

10 minutes ago a fabulous eye-opening hour Oprah interview concluded on channel ten. Don't know what im talking about? Well, the SATC cast hit Oprah's coach for a bit of a chat on the new movie, their lives for the past 4 years and the fashion behind SATC. So if you missed it here's a quit summary on that delightful hour long interview.

SATC took 4mths to film. It is 2hrs long and the girls regard NYC as the 5th Character. It's been four years since the show ended and they have all missed it tremendously. However they all have their own story to tell:

SARAH JESSICA PARKER, who plays CARRIE of course, has been working on a few films such as 'The Family Stone' and 'Failure to Launch'.

CYNTHIA NIXON, who acts as Miranda, has fallen in love with a woman, and has suffered breast cancer. She still remains happy and laughed alot throughout the interview.

KIM CATTRAL, who steps into Samantha's shoes, now has a boyfriend who is 23 years her junior. She denies the rumours that they cook dinner together in the nude.

KRISTIN DAVIS, who has stepped back into the role of Charlotte, says she has found herself in the past 4 years and has spent alot of it on reflection.

CHRIS NOTH, who charms Carrie as Mr Big, says his son (now five years old) is his bundle of joy and talked about him for quite a while.

MICHAEL PATRICK KING, the director, writer, producer, etc., joined them on skype, to talk about the film.

The girls said that with fashion they wore alot of belts, especially around the waist to add shape. They helped to choose the outfits, but didnt have total control and they would wear a designer piece with a piece that was only worth $2.

The audience in America were lucky enough to go to a preview screening (didnt see last 20min) and got double passes to see it when it opened in cinemas.

Beware Oprah said it comes out May 30th, that is in America. It comes out June 5th over here.

Inspirational Fashion

Just a Quick Note: Tonight tune in to Oprah and 7:30pm on Channel Ten for her interview with Sarah Jessica Parker and the girls from "Sex and The City: The Movie".

The Dumb Concept

Today I have a very serious thing to talk about. Sadly, no it is not about the latest red pumps i found at Williams or the gorgeous new Guess bag at David Jones (although there new range is quite impressive). I am going to talk about knowledge, generalisations and familarisations.

I have had so many people make comments about fashionable people and their knowledge of the real world to me. These comment include, "Oh shes so materialistic, no wonder shes dumb." and "Celebrities have no brain." Oh but my favourite is, "Does she even know the dictionary meaning of GUESS." Oh my, some people are so blind as to think that the only thing fashionable people know about is clothes.

Here's a few questions for those who have these generalisations in your head...
Did you know that some fashionistas have written books or films? Are business owners or managers? Have very High Ops?"

Oh sure, there are some. The obvious few, who, frankly are plain stupid when it comes to everything else. But the majority, have other things going on and you should not judge a book by its cover. A computer scientist could love fashion or could hate it, but that wont change them being a computer scientist.

Just have a think about it, and would those who familarise themselves with such generalisations just think for a second before you make another smart comment.

Thankyou, Clairzy

Deportment Lessons Learnt

I participated in my 3rd Deportment class yesterday. I had to leave an hour early, but I enjoyed the time i spent and the lessons i learnt during my time there.

Yesterday we did makeup. Oh what fun! How one must occasionally indulge in another applying magic to their imperfections, so that they will look as one must. Yes, you may laugh, at my sudden reliance on the very language i have learnt in my class, but neverless, i have learnt lifelong lessons. I have three very important lessons to share with you.

LESSON #1:
Never, and I do mean never ever ever place eyeliner on the inside line of your eye lids. Always place it just below or on the outer edge. I have always hated it when people put eyeliner on the inside. It makes their eyes go red, which causes them to complain, about something that could have been prevented in the first place.

LESSON #2:
Concealer is there to hide fine lines and blemishes. Please do not use it as a foundation. It is not made to be used that way. If you're using it as a foundation go out and buy yourself a proper foundation that will actually look right.

LESSON #3:
NEVER apply makeup with first using a cleanser, toner and moisturiser on your face! This lesson isn't from deportment but it is something i strongly advise you to remember. If you dont take anything else from this post, please take this. It will solve so many problems!

Well thats about it
keep looking after your face and wait for my next deportment post next week.

SATS's fashion Clones

Hey all,

I love fashion & drama. It makes for such great television & film. It began with "Sex & the City" (tv series), continued with films like The Devil Wears Prada and is headstrong now with "Sex & the City: the movie" coming out next month. So what should we look out for? When does fashion & drama mix? I have three television shows that i believe have (in the past 12mths) showcased fashion in an amazing way.

The first happens to be Cashmere Mafia, a show which may have had its season finale in April but will always be 2008's Television Fashion Guru. Let's just hope that Lucy Liu, Miranda Otto & their gang will be stepping out in their high heels and mascara for a second season soon.

The Next Program on my list is the ever so dramatic and fabulous show Desperate Housewives, which has audiences captivated every Monday Night. It may not be that ever housewife has a designer wardrobe but Gabriella sure does and the amount of dough that show must spend on her clothes is, well it's beyond words isnt it?

My third and final program to mention tonight is "The Starter Wife". Although it disappeared from our screens in the summer the outfits are still in my head. Again Mirando Otto is stunning in every evening gown, pair of sunglasses or coat she wears. Fingers Crossed the fashion & drama will be back for a second chance soon.

What do you think deserves to be in the list?

Goodnight all, Clairzy

WEEKLY TOP 5: 27/05/08

From now on every Monday I will try to post a weekly Top 5 pieces. You can comment on whether or not you think they should be in the Top 5 and give me some suggestions for what I should put in there. I'd love to hear from you.

This week we have five deliciously gorgeous pieces.
Firstly, we have the Skinny Belt which is of course the bust belt of this season. Wear with a fitted top or a basic and jeans to give it the glory it deserves. I have a white one which i wear with everything!!! They are in almost all your chain stores at Westfield. Try Dotti or Cotton On for variety.

Secondly, we have the amazing Trench coat. Yes it has been gracing the fashion magazines for years now which could certainly make it a timeless piece. It works so many ways and is avaliable in so many colours! I can't get enough of them! I have my own Pink one that i wear with dresses or jeans. They go well with heels too and they dont always have to be expensive. You can pick one up from Valleygirl, Ally or Temt from around $20.

Thirdly, we have the old-fashioned coin purse for when you dont need to take much. You can fit your money (coins & notes), possibly a credit card or two, and your keys in an average coin purse. Be wary of those cheap crafty ones found at the markets though, they can be faulty. Try one from Cosmetics Plus or Diva, for worthy pieces.

Next we have the Quilted chain bag. The Quilted chain bag is this seasons IT bag. I have not got one YET but it is on my list. They come in a wide variety of colours and can fit almost anything. They give a feminine feel to any outfit and will make you feel that extra bit more amazing.

My Fifth item is the stylish cardie, an oldie but a goodie. These are everywhere at the moment. Everyone seems to have cottoned on the fact that they are really comfy and stylish. They add a (just like the quilted chain bag) feminine touch, which is what this season is all about. Get one from Free Fusion or Cotton On and you'll be as warm and stylish are can be.

Well thats my top five for this week
send me an email with your suggestions for next week.

It's a Maxi Trend

The Maxi Dress may have been an understated trend back in 2006 and 2007 but this year (spring especially) you will be seeing many more maxi dresses. The most popular of course being the Cotton Maxi Dress and the Satin Maxi Dress.

Image Hosting by Picoodle.com

Celebrities such as Nicole Ritche have praised the new trend and have added it to their own wardrobes. So if someone that can have anything they want goes out and buys a maxi dress you know it must be good. But how do we, average joes, make it fashionable but also low budget? You can use what you already have in your wardrobe, such as sunnies, heels and clutch purses.

Team a cotton Maxi Dress with Sandals, a large pendant and oversized sunnies

Team a Satin Maxi Dress with High Heels and large silver or gold earrings

Have a Great Day & dont forget to experiment

Bring Back the Ladies

I am currently doing a Deportment class through my school with four of my friends. We have learnt how to sit, eat, walk and take care of our skin. This week is makeup and in a few weeks time i shall be graduating. SO EXCITING! Who knew be a lady could be so much fun?

I just love Audrey Hepburn, she was quite the lady. My Audrey Inspired Outfit is for evening functions. Please feel free to comment, and have fun becoming ladies.

SATC's Vogue shoot

Check out Carrie & Mr Big's photoshoot for Vogue, which is advertising for SATC of course. Here are the two photos that stood out as brilliant advertising for the film.

Make a Splash!

Hey Fashionistas,
This season is all about using template colours, such as grey & brown, and mixing them up with a splash of extreme colour, such as purple or red. You can do this in the form of an oversized bag, pair of killer shoes, scarf or bust belt.

Feminine all ways

This winter is all about finding your feminine side, if you havn't found it already. So what should we do about clashing trends, other trends such as the leather jacket and manstyle shirt are also big news. Where do we cross the line with mixing trends? Do we stick to one trend, or experiment with many?
I suggest that this winter you add a statement piece, such as la' Manystyle shirt or faux' leather jacket, to feminine pieces. This will let you show off your new found feminine side, as well as that new piece you have been dying to wear, but havent had anything to wear it with. You can do this very low budget as well. Instead of a biker boy real leather jacket, try it faux', there are low budget chainstore options at temt, cotton on and ice.

Make a manstyle shirt feminine with chain accesories and white

team a leather jacket with silver hoops and a party dress to land "Grunge Princess"

Cheers, Clairzy
