Blogging Revolution

When did the blogging revolution begin exactly? No one can really know. The blog has been around since the beginning of the World Wide Web but it's been only recently that it's become such a big thing. Anyone can blog but whether or not they are good at it is a different thing. Two bloggers who have been given a lot of media attention recently are definitely Gala Darling of www.galadarling.com and Jane of www.seaofshoes.com.

So how do you make a blog a success? It depends on what you are writing a blog for. If you are a budding journalist and you're over eighteen you can get paid revenue to advertise on your space, and you can easily hand out business cards at places that would be interested in your content. Chain stores would enjoy fashion blog business cards and corporate businesses would prefer economic articles.

If you are doing it as a serious side business you need to know your audience. You need to write for them, not just for you. Make sure you write at least one article of decent content a week, if you fail to do this you will lose business quickly. Also, add in short articles every day so that each time a customer logs on they can read something new.

If you are doing it for fun tell your friends and get the word around that way. If it's simply a diary on your wedding preparations or exchange in another country you shouldn't have to worry about the formal rules. Write when you want to write and write what you want to write. Post pictures so that it's not simply textual as people enjoy visual pieces aswell.

What's in a boot?

Trends chop and change. Every season is different. So what has been there for us through thick and thin during winter? It's not the skinny jean: that's only a new idea. It's not the longline cardigan: that goes out of fashion every few years. It is, however, clear that the boot has been there, every year, to bring warmth, comfort and style. This year the two key trendy boots are the Fringe boot and the Shoe boot, however others such as the combat boot, knee high boot and ankle boot make a great investment for every season. If you aren't sure what sort to buy, buy an investment piece that's simple like a roll ankle boot or a scrunch knee high boot. Unless you really like the on trend boots don't buy them as they will disappear and reappear. That being said my favourite purchase this year has been my shoe boots. They are so comfortable, stylish and versatile.

Good morning sweetharts,

He has some friends as well which I find amusing.
The bunny has to be my favourite.

Dotti for Grazia

How to: The Leather Jacket

How do you wear your leather jacket? Here are some ideas for you to think about and enjoy reading.

leather jacket: actress

Stacey's perfect man is in the pages of Shakespeare and Hardy. She works at a waitress at the local Gloria Jeans but dreams of being on 'Neighbours'. She's got a big audition tomorrow and is practising like crazy. She even called in sick for work today.

leather jacket: idea girl

Britney loves coffee and fashion magazines. She gets the train at 6am every morning to get into work on time. She works the files and sorts the accounts and tells her boss who's called in last.

leather jacket: party

Lauren's into techno. She decides to hit the club last minute and throw on her favourite jacket over the cutest little dress. She dances all night with the sweetest boy in the room and leaves with a phone number written on her arm in permanent marker.

Style Icon: Taylor Swift

She's brought us songs like 'Love Story' about people who live in a world mirrored on Shakespeare. She's a happy, smiling, young woman who has brought back crimped hair and soft goth. She may only be 19 but when it comes to style she's got it covered. Gracing the red carpet in frocks that would make a rich princess envious and hiting up interviews in black gloves and hollywood waves she's thrown the media into a country girl frenzy and yet she's not your typical cow girl. She's transformed the image from Flannel shirts and gum boots to LBDs and floor sweeping gowns. Ever thought Gothic Country couldn't be feminine? Think again.

Layer Up This Autumn

It's not hard. Coats are actually one of the easiest pieces to use. Depending on your shape and style you can find the perfect coat for you. Whether you choose a bell sleeve, a trench coat or even a camel coat there's a coat out there for you. I personally have a pink trench coat which is fabulously. It lifts my traditional greys and blacks for winter. What's you style?

what's your style?

How fabulous does Britney look in this photo?

I believe I've just come across the next 'It' bloggest! Her name is Megan and she's the bloggest of Student Charade. Visit her blog everyone, we should support such a talent.

Megan says, "In creating Charade I’ve made the decision that a thriving, remarkable and opulent lifestyle is always within reach, on any budget; it just takes a little know-how. Stick around for regular musings from a girl who’s masquerading her way through a budget lifestyle."

Need to look fab without the pricetag? I've just found a new blog called The Budget Babe. It's full of handy hints and great inexpensive buys to keep you looking fabulous.

This week I've also some videos dedicated to the late great Audrey Hepburn.

Have a great day everyone.

She wears the pants

So who wears the pants in your relationship? You or them? It could be your partner, your girlfriends, your mum or your boss, as you have relationships with all of them. This winter be prepared to wear the pants and if you don't want to stand up to your partner simply wear a pair of nice flowing corporate pants in a neutral hue such as grey, white or black. Fabulous with a blazer for work or a bright blouse for evening wear.

Luck of the Irish

Photobucket

Wearing green today for "St. Patrick's day"? Go ahead. It's good luck and while you're at it why not make some green cupcakes. Haha.

Ingredients
2 cups self-raising flour, sifted
3/4 cup caster sugar
3/4 cup milk
125g butter, melted, cooled
2 x eggs, beaten
1 teaspoon Queen Natural Vanilla Essence
GreenIcing
1 1/2 cups pure icing sugar
1 to 1 1/2 tablespoons water

Method
Preheat oven to 200°C. Grease a 12 x 1/3-cup capacity muffin pan. Alternatively, line holes with paper cases. Combine flour and caster sugar in a bowl. Make a well in the centre.
Add milk, butter, eggs and vanilla to flour mixture. Using a large metal spoon, stir gently to combine.
Spoon mixture into prepared muffin pan. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean. Stand in pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool.
Make icing: Sift icing sugar into a bowl. Add food colouring and water. Stir until smooth and well combined. Spoon icing over cupcakes.

The new Corporate

So what's Anne wearing? Why does it seem more laid back? Well she is wearing skinny jeans with her blazer and blouse. She's glammed up for the office with less seriousness.

This is perfect to do when you are going out for dinner or to meet friends. It's also great for a laid back workplace but if they don't like you wearing jeans don't try it in office hours.

What other colours can we try? Well grey pants and always nice and neat and white blazers are seeing a comeback which is always good.

So last night I went out to the cinema with my friend to see "Confessions of a Shopaholic", it was good but we organised to go shopping afterwards and the film had ruined our appetite. If you need to save money go to Confessions because you will not be able to use a credit card for 24 hours afterwards. It strikes you hard and makes you think. Then you get over it, we I hope I will.

Weekly rambles #032: 13/03/09

I've just finished reading "Tess of the D'urbervilles" by Thomas Hardy. It is so sad, so brilliant, so captivating. Hardy is a great writer and his legacy will live on in his works. Hardy believed that nothing should go without being said and so wrote about death, childbirth & sex opening. Here's a montage of the two main characters from one of the mini series versions.

I hope Britney Spears comes to Australia. There's rumours she may be later this year. I would so go. I've wanted to go to a Britney concert since I was seven. haha. Here's what she's been up to anyway. I'm not going to post a video someone took on their phone or camera at the show, I think if you want to support Britney actually buy the CDs instead of using things like limewire and actually go to the show instead of watching youtube videos of it. I will show however this promo video made by Candies, the company that is presenting Brits.

French is hilarious in this Harry Potter spoof. Basil even makes an appearance.

Have a fabulous day!

Breakfast at Tiffany's

The 1961 classic "Breakfast at Tiffany's" starring Audrey Hepburn and George Peppard is fabulous! One of the most famous films of all time and all thanks to that dress! The little black dress Audrey wears in the opening credits and during the film is gorgeous and the sunglasses top that outfit off oh so well.

Shop Like a Star

So none of us have the never-ending hollywood budgets, the figures or the stylists of some of the world's most famous fashionistas, notably Nicole Ritchie, Kate Moss, Kate Hudson, Sienna Miller and Paris Hilton (just to name a few), but we can still shop like a star and its easy to do.

Grab an honest friend (your BFF) who will be harsh and honest. Someone who can tell you your bum looks big without making you want to slap them and is able to find pieces that work for you that you wouldn't normally try. Your sister is a good one to try or your mum, if she has style of course.

Wear something that will not help you in the dressing rooms, like high heels, a huge handbag, a dress when you're looking for a top (problem when you want to walk out of change room to show someone). It adds a little thrill to the shopping trip and a good story. Ever gone shopping for a cocktail dress with a bright pink thong and no bra? Oh and if none of this works for you simply do like Nicole Ritchie and don't try anything on before you buy.

Preoccupy yourself with other things. Try to tackle many tasks at one time. Mischa Barton always has her blackberry and Blake Lively loves her coffee. If it's too much of a hassle flicking through racks while on the phone get your assistant (BFF) to hold the phone or coffee while your flicking.

Know what your favourite brands are? No? Pick them now! Know your size in pants, skirts, jackets, tanks and blouses at these stores. Write them down somewhere. This will make it easier to find the right size and leave you with more time for other things. Also get to know your sales assistants at these stores. They can tell you what stock is coming in and if they know you they're more likely to tell you the truth about how you REALLY look in those highwaisted cuff shorts. CRINGE!

Finally, when you get home do a fashion show. Make everyone in your house notice that you have new clothes. Pair them up and take photos so it's easy to make outfits with them later on. Add mickey mouse ears, etc, for fun.

The Colours of Autumn

Pastels:
Those who don't believe in pale pink re-evaluate your reasons because pale pink is flawless. Pale pink is the perfect colour for a silk scarf and definitely the best colour for work nail polish and this season it's making room for pale blue and mint green.

Black:
Is there any other colour you can buy in stocking; elegantly of course? Black is the ESSENTIAL colour of the Autumn/winter season. Stockings, belts, scarves, shoes, skinny jeans and LBDs, it's all there, better than ever.

Brown:
With bohemian luxe and country folk at the centre of every designers autumn collection brown has got to be one of the big stars this season. With fringe boots & bags, tan legwarmers & belts and fabulous jackets let brown whisk you away.

Brights:
When you think of bright accesories you think of spring and summer but you can bring colour into your autumn/winter wardrobe as well. Add a bright scarf, belt or coat to an otherwise dull outfit to jazz it up this season.
