Summer Fashion Overseas

"I'm going overseas soon and was wondering what I should buy to take as it is in a warm climate. Can you help me?"

There are so many pieces avaliable to wear in a warm climate at the moment. These include pieces such as the printed tank and tailored playsuits, as well as accesories such as the buckle bust belt, straw fedoras and printed scarves.

I would suggest you take over a pair of jeans, at least one pair of shorts (denim preferrably), some plain singlets in neutral hues, a tie dye tank, a skirt of some sort, whether it be rara or aline, a tailored playsuit and summer dresses.

Accesorise with a thick bust belt, a straw fedora and gold jewelry. Printed scarves and shawls are a must to place over your shoulders as sun protection. Footwear will either make or break and outfit, so take shoes that are versatile enough for your trip, such as gladiator heels and biblical inspired sandals. Ankle boots and ballet flats are not off the scene yet, so feel free to take them as well.

The most important thing is to mix and match, and feel free to wear your shorts twice before washing, unless you can't possibly go without washing. An important rule however is to NEVER wear a shirt twice without washing. That's just nasty.

Hope this helped, and enjoy your trip away.

Quote of the Day: 31/07/08

“Sometimes I wake up and I think I should start wearing a beret, but I don't do it. One day I'm gonna, though. You bet your ass, I will have a beret on. That's ridiculous, but it's true. I always fight with wearing a beret.”
- Mitch Hedbery

Next Top Model Worldwide

As ANTM is aired the first episode of it's 7th slice on Sunday and everyone seems hyped for this season, (Sundays 6:30pm TEN) I thought I'd check out what the other countries are up to. I decided to judge whether I'd watch them if they ever aired here, or if I ever traveled their based on their opening sequence.

CHINA
I'm loving this sneak peak. It's perfect for 'CNTM'. I would defintely check it out as it looks fabulous.

HOLLAND
Seems to be a little boring and dull. The music, the repetition, it has no life to it. I don't think I'd bother with this one.

CANADA
Fiery music, Fiery Colours, Fiery Expressions. This show looks like fun and it's hosted by one of the most talented male fashionistas out there, talk about a great opening.

BRAZIL
I love the visuals but I think I may need to turn my Tv on mute, as that theme song is spine chillingly bad. Brazil, you need a good mix otherwise everyone will be tuning into the football instead.

HUNGARY
I don't understand it as I don't speak Hungarian, but it seems like a fairly reasonable opening, so it would surely make me watch an episode if it happened to be on. I may need a translator though.

AUSTRALIA
I have to be patriotic, this is a great opening, however I don't like the random catwalk bit near the end, where there's just a yellow dress. It makes it look like a home video.

RANDOM
oh my gosh i love this. someone has put together photos of their favourite models, actors and singers to make this opening...

Oh, and, if you're wondering why i'm suddenly posting with You Tube videos it's because I recently surfed You Tube and found so many relevant videos I didn't think they'd have. It has also widened my search for specific topics such as ANTM. If you have a You Tube video you would like to share send me the link on clairzy91@hotmail.com

Weekly Shopping: 29/07/08

(sweet-outfit-26/07/08)

On Thursday night I bought this gorgeous grey striped cardi from Mombasa for only $20 down from $40. It is so cute, warm and cuddly.

I also bought this black shoulder bag with two front pockets as well as a back one and inside compartments for only $25 at Strandbags. It is too cute. I love it.

ANTM Cycle 7 ep.2

Tonight on ANTM the girls met with the designers from elmer ave. who paraded a group of male models down the catwalk in elmer ave. pieces. The models were asked to take a male model and undress him, mixing the outfit up into a more feminine set, and then strutt their stuff down the catwalk. Michelle stumbled which was kind of funny, and Melrose won the competition, which she deserved.

The models then rode in the new ANTM Limo and were so excited it was unbelievable, all over a car? Christian actually said, "This is how Christian is supposed to be treated. Like a Queen."

The limo took the girls to their new crib which was decked out in everything Tyra Banks of course. There were only 11 beds however and Christian and Monique missed out at first, until Monique showed her fiery side and moved Eugena's gear and wet her bed with water, telling the girls she was, "marking (her) territory." Later on the girls had a debate about showers and Monique's fiery side came out again when she would not shorten her one hour showers. It's safe to say the girls hate her already.

The next day Tyra joined them as a crazy diva stereotype, screaming and cursing, requesting wind and tripping on her sky high heels. This was to introduce the next shoot, "Model Stereotypes." My favourite photograph was Caridee's, she did so well (acting as dumb blonde) and I was so proud of her for it.

Nigel Baker and Twiggy finally made an appearance in the eliminate room. While the judge's discussed each model seperately we realised Twiggy thought Megan looks a lot like Kim from Cycle 6, which is oh so true.

Finally it was elimination time and Christian was the one to get the boot, as she was considered average and too plain Jane.

Hope you enjoyed.
Be watching next week for more ANTM (Sunday 6:30pm TEN)

Weekly Top 5: 28/07/08

The Multiple Buckle Belt: "When did belts get so complex? Simple single buckle belts aren't copacetic for designers anymore. These multiple buckle belts are dynamic and make a statement all right. The statement being "Look at my womanly waist!" Not such a bad calling card if you ask me." Fab Sugar.

The Tie Dye Party Frock: "...all over the runways from Baby Phat to Louis Vuitton, this color bleeding technique is sure to be a big trend this Spring. With gradient party frocks. accessories (bags, shoes and hats) and even make-up palettes already hitting the shelves and the pages of our favorite fashion mags, it might just be time to start looking for a new and colourful addition to our wardrobe." Angie Omata

The ruffled playsuit: "Ruffled PLaysuits have only just joined the fashion scene and they are already being snapped up by chain stores, as well as designers. How I need one in black!" Clairzy

The striped Bikini: "...Striped Bikini reminds us of glamorous old Hollywood, with its full bottom coverage, halter straps, and rosette and ruffle detailing..." Boutique to you

The white high heels with feminine detailing: "I am begging for a pair of these babies. They are so feminine, cute and the detailing makes them unique..."Clairzy

Quote of the Day: 28/07/08

“Appearance is a powerful thing. I know sometimes people can’t remember a word you’ve said, but can tell you exactly what you were wearing.”
- Ann Richards

ANTM Cycle 07: Ep 01

ANTM Cycle 07's beginning sequence was not as expected. Instead of the amazing sequence i expected, it was a dull description of ANTM, by Tyra. Her voice was one that held presence over shots of past scenes and the past contestants. Out of 1000's of girls who auditioned 33 were selected to take the path, at least until the first bus stop. They were met by J. alexander at the airport, who some of them did not know what to call, her or him. Quite funny really. Here (at the airport), they had their first photoshoot, no preparation allowed. Some were confident, others cursed at how unfair it was to have a photoshoot with no prep. Throughout the episode nigel baker and twiggy were no present, it's a shame as they are my favourites.

Once they reached the hotel Ron & Richard turned up to introduce them to... who else? Tyra Banks. Lots of screaming occured as usual. It was here we met the twins, Michelle and Amanda, who kept saying they were so different but when they were faced with tyra and the Jays they pulled the same poses and finished each other sentences. I think they need to face up to the fact they are the SAME!

From here they had their first cut, where 34 became 21. Girls such as Cyndel, who was a stripper and referred to stripping as 'EXOTIC MODELLING' (this is why Tyra wanted her gone) were sent home. Once the 21 were chosen they had 15 minutes to prepare for their second photoshoot. They got ready, and went outside to were Jay Manuel was and were hit by a bit suprise...

they were going to be shot nude.

There were those that found it difficult, such as Becky, and when the 21 became 13, those girls were sent home. Another girl that was then sent home was Evita, who was a 22 year old mother of 2 with her husband in Iraq. She had left her children at home and was upset that it was all for nothing. I think if she chose to have a family at that age she should prepare to sacrifice particular things (such as the comp) and she should be happy she got to go home to her children.

Those that were choosen at the end of the ep. were Christian, Michelle & Amanda, Megg, Megan, Anchal, A.J, Melrose, Brooke, Jaeda, Caridee, Eugena & Keenyah.

Japanese Love Instalment 01 (27/07/08)

Good Afternoon My Sweetharts,

As I have probably told you before, I am going to Japan in less than two months with an tourist group, with some of my closest friends inclusive. We will be traveling to Kyoto, Hiroshima and Tokyo as well as many other fabulous destinations in the tech-savvy Tourist Favourite.

Each week, starting today, I shall share with you something new that I have learnt, through research, about Japan and the lifestyle there. Hopefully through this you, as well as I, will know enough to survive there, without looking like total aliens.

Today is all about, what else, what I expect or believe to experience and see in Japan. These myths shall be defeated or defended, when I arrive back home, or during stay there (if I am allowed Blogging time).

*CHOPSTICKS - I am hoping they will not be compulsory as I have a great deal of trouble with them. So It's more so me hoping that there is Western cutlery avaliable aswell (knives, forks and spoons).

*TEMPLES - I have it in my mind that, whether it's true or not, there are temples everywhere in Japan. I'm preparing to visit or at least see one everyday on the tour.

*FAT ANYBODY? - This is a myth I am hoping, for Aussie sake, is not true. We all know Japan is a home to many fast food outlets, also found over here, such as McDonalds, KFC and Red Rooster. It is believed that only Western tourists eat from there, as they have little care for Japan's own traditional food outlets.

*MARKET MANIA - All the travel shows describe Japan as a home to the biggest flea markets in the world. Is this true? Are they really that big?

*Harajuku girls - Is this what all the teens in harajuku dress like, or is this the catwalk interpretation? Do you see girls walking about the flea markets in costumes and bright hair dye?

Fergie's thing for fashion

Q: "I'm in love with Fergie's 'Labels or Love' but didn't she have another song about fashion aswell?"

Yes she did, "My Mary Janes" is avaliable from ITUNES or you can purchase 'Fergie: The Duchess' if you'd like more Fergie. Enjoy these...

Sweet Outfit: 26/07/08

Is that the coolest photo or what? I'm in love with my deck today, as it's nice and sunny out there. I spent a great deal of time out there reflecting and on the phone to my friends, I plan to spend some more time later with my magazine, ipod and a notepad to jot down ideas for my various assignments, of which i need to work on.

So today, i haven't done much and as my outfit would suggest i was a little tired when i worked out what i was going to wear. As always my outfit is reflecting on my mood, for today it's tired, strained and stressed with formal preparations, school and various commitments at the moment (such as work, social events and a couple of journalism reports due soon).

Let's just say today I spent a lot of time reflecting, lounging and sorting out my plan for the next couple of weeks. I have made a promise to myself that unless it is necessary i am not to take on any other work load, such as freelance editing and photography for various groups. I have also promised myself however that i will, if requested, undertake freelance journalism jobs, after all journalism is the greatest thing to indulge in when in any mood.

Yes, today's sweet outfit blog has become one very much like a diary entry, which is probably not the best plan, but plans don't always go the way they were meant to.

- Black Ally X Jeans
- White Cotton On singlet
- New Mombasa striped cardi
- 'love' pendant necklace from Equip

(unseen) black ballet flats from jay jays

Katy Perry

Katy Perry may be the artist of the new song, 'I kissed a girl' but that is not her only talent (singing). She is also a skilled fashionista who plays up 40's chic with school girl glamour for a seriously amazing style. I love her wardrobe, some serious inspiration there for all fashionistas.

EQUESTRIAN

Booties, Bibbed Blouses, Aline Skirts and Quilted Shoulder Bags come together as a combination of trendy winter pieces to form a very new and exciting trend, 'Equestrian Chic'.

Quote of the Day: 24/07/08

“Fashion is so close in revealing a person's inner feelings and everybody seems to hate to lay claim to vanity so people tend to push it away. It's really too close to the quick of the soul.”
-Stella Blum

Tonight I went shopping with my mum and my little brother Alex. We went to Carindale and I picked up a few bargains, including a gorgeous striped cardi (more on that later). Statement bags

Q: "I'm in need of a new handbag, any suggestions for a versatile & fashionable satchel that I can take anywhere?"

Well, I have some suggestions, so why not look at those below to discover what will be your statement bag this season...

What is your favourite statement bag this season?

Is it the brown Satchel shopper with pocket detailing and drawstrings?

Is it the black quilted bag with a gold chain along it's side?

Is it the black patent shoulder bag with small metallic details?

Is it the black checked sports bag with keychains?

Is it the simple pastel study satchel?

Is it the white satchel shopper with drawstrings?

Bad Form In Dress

This afternoon as I was doing some research I came across this photograph of an American document released during the world war suggesting that women stop shopping. I find it quite interesting, as America was so focused on spending money on the war, they thought fashion was inappropriate.

How To: Fashion Photography

Imagine your hair fixed and face painted with powders by popular stylists.
Imagine a devine outfit, pieced together by professional fashion gurus.
Imagine a perfect view that runs on for miles and miles.
Imagine being on a fashion magazine cover.

Okay, so this probably isn't going to happen to you any time soon, but that shouldn't stop you from making your own perfect picture.

5 EASY STEPS TO PRODUCE YOUR OWN FASHION SPREAD:

1. The Theme: What is the theme for your shoot? Base it around a key trend in the fashion industry at the present or the past, or you can predict one for the future if you feel like being creative. Eg. Feminine Florals

2. The Clothes: What is fashion photography without the fashion? Piece together an outfit that represents the theme of your fashion spread. Eg. Rara Skirts, Equestrian Blouses and Floral Dresses

3. The setting: The setting should compliment your pieces by either contrasting or mixing with them. Eg. an old library is dark in contrast to bright florals

4. The Hair & Makeup: Style your makeup to, yes, match your theme. Eg. Wavy Hair and nude makeup will compliment florals

5. The Photographer and Photography equipment: Make sure you have all the equipment you need. Eg. Tripod, Digital Camera, Spare Batterie. You should also make sure you have a photographer avaliable. I'd suggest a friend who is interested in having their own photoshoot. You can take her photos and she can take yours, and why not make a day of it with outfit, makeup, hair and location choices made together?

Have fun. I'd love to see some of your photos. clairzy91@hotmail.com

TOP 5: 21/07/08

Booties: These are either called booties or shoots depending on where you buy them from. They have been a significant piece to fashion shows around the world in the past 12 months and are continuing to turn heads. Try a pair from shoobiz or ZU, to where with a pair of grey skinnys and a feminine blouse.

Dangly Earrings: Perfect to tip off the equestrian look, as well as the mix/match pattern style, both evident in the fashion world this spring.

Charm Bracelets: Great for a night out or to wear to work with your blazer and aline skirt. These come in all sizes, colours and weights. Fill it as much as you wish with significant charms.

Natural Eyeshadow: Say farewell to black cohl eyeliner and metallic eyeshadow. They begone while natural eyeshadow is in.

Metallic Heels: Metallic is a thing of the past for makeup and yet it is at it's richest in footwear. Look for heels with bows, buckles or faded prints for a modern take on the '60s trend.

Sweet Outfit 20/07/08

So, this is what I wore today, when I studied and went out to the shop (for not very long at all). I felt like today I would follow my own advice and reinvent a piece from last year. That's what the 'sack' dress (or so my mum calls it) is for.

- Black Opaque Stockings
- Pink 'Sack' Dress from Supre 2006 collection
- White Cotton On Design Fem. Cardigan
- Metallic Silver High Waisted Belt from Dotti
- Gold Love Heart Pendant Necklace from City Beach for "$2!"
- Black Ballet Flats from Jay Jays, bargain at $10

This Necklace was a bargain at City Beach in the City for $2. It goes with EVERYTHING and I strongly suggest that everyone goes out and buys a gold pendant necklace. How can you lose?

I bought these ballet flats a while ago from Jay Jays for dance and drama but its happens that I wear them every so often when im out shopping or walking all day. They are so comfortable!

Btw. the reason why the photos are dodge quality is coz' my SLR's battery died so i have to recharge (will take a couple of days sad face.
